What We Have in the Works
VwV | Bike Edition | Prototype 0: Electrifying a Custom Castelli & 2010's Custom Dean Titanium Frame with the best of existing e-bike kits & bike components so we can get around easier and faster even with load and up hills. Necessary for our first big milestone ride from Berkeley to San Diego and back this December and learn what’s missing.
While the bikes we had were great to get off the couch and start practicing with the dogs, the Bianchi and Ibis were really designed for a completely different use i.e road racing & mountain bike racing - NOT touring, bikepacking, or towing. These things require a completely different build, geometry, and overall fit to make it through mixed terrains, tow dogs, and (perhaps most importantly) comfort & performance for covering 50-100 miles everyday. Wouldn't hurt if it were beautiful too.
And as of today, we're super excited to announce our partnership with Cane Creek and their beautiful & (hopefully) indestructible titanium e-bike cranks! read more on that below.
The Base "Vintage" Bike Frames
For Him
Luckily, we also had 1 Vintage Bike we thought would be perfect for Electromodding, a 1990s custom Caletti cross bike - currently out of commission since the old Shimano Gear Shifter broke.

We thought it would be a great homage to John Caletti after his terrible crash this year (we're rooting for you John!).

Also worth noting David Kirk's Triple F Rear Dropouts. Greg can't help his cool custom tweaks.

For Her
Since we didn't have any other frames sitting around, we needed to get me a bike that’s my size that can be built out to fit my exact body needs. The Ibis was bearable but the Bianchi was painful.
In the upcycle / electromod spirit, we wanted to find a used but high quality titanium or steel bike frame that wasn't too pricey. We found this 2010’s Dean Custom Titanium Mountain Bike Frame on eBay for a good deal. It was even available for pickup locally which is even better! The only snag was that we went home to find out it's for a 26" wheel when the seller said it was 27". We didn't bring a tape measure at pickup and got it on good faith (rookie mistake), but he was nice enough to refund a portion of the price. All in all it's a beautiful frame, that I'm super stoked about.

The Basic Electrification Kit:
750W CYC Photon Mid-Drive Motor, Chainring, & A-Series Batteries (with 52V4A charger)
Cane Creek Electric Wings Titanium e-bike Cranks
But seriously, these things are supposed to be indestructible
